A tournament 2 years in the making with finally come to an end and there will be a Super Middleweight champion crowned in The Super Six World Boxing Classic Final LIVE from New Jersey.

The Super Six World Boxing Classic Final between super middleweight world champions Andre Ward and Carl Froch has been rescheduled for Saturday, Dec. 17 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. The SHOWTIME® telecast will air LIVE at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the West Coast). The announcement was made jointly today by Ward’s promoter, Dan Goossen of Goossen Tutor Promotions, Froch’s promoter, Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, and Ken Hershman of SHOWTIME Sports

While Andre Ward is WBA and Carl Froc is a WBC super-middleweight title winner. With equal strength, victories, training positions and other favouring factors the two boxers are expected to give each other a good run for the title of Super Six World Boxing winner. Andre Ward is having a cut/injury around his eye but is still in his best boxing form now and is confident about winning the fight. Carl Froc on the other hand has been found to be a little overweight (2 pounds) for his middleweight category but is all set to give Ward a good fight and run for the tittle. Ward has been said to be receiving the home ground advantage in the previous fights of the tournament but will now have to travel to Atlantic City for the event as Froc will have to. The above factors will make the fight even more unexpected but interesting event for the followers as well as the boxers themselves.

Promoter Dan Goossen has once rescheduled this much awaited Super Six final fight but has now confirmed the venue and date to be fixed. With boxing lovers from all over the world the promoter Dan is also excited to see the two high potential boxers in the ring against each other.

Andre Ward (14-0) and Carl Froch (28-1) put their respective WBA and WBC super middleweight titles on the line in the final of the Super Six this Saturday. The tournament has had it’s critics, with a number of fighters withdrawing through injury, but there can be no argument that it has seen most of the top fighters in the division left with little alternative than to face each other. Lucian Bute is the notable exception, and is reportedly being lined up to fight the winner.

Whilst both men have hugely increased their exposure in reaching this stage, the winner should be in a strong position in negotiating future fights against the likes of Bute, Kessler and possibly Hopkins. According to the markets, this man is very likely to Ward, who is top priced at 4/11 (Ladbrokes, Coral). Carl Froch is a standout 13/5 (Bwin). Although, one has to wonder whether Showtime wouldn’t far rather see the underdog take this fight.

Ward is undoubtedly talented, but his style, both in and out of the ring, does little to excite the fans. Froch on the other hand, is eminently quotable and watchable. This makes his relative anonymity on British shores quite incredible; albeit this can, in my opinion, be almost entirely explained by his choice of promoter up until the Johnson fight. In spite of his early career being covered by terrestrial television, Froch has, until the Johnson fight, been largely confined to the televisual backwaters of Primetime. It’s hard to envisage Eddie Hearn failing to raise Froch’s profile significantly, and indeed he is now fighting on Sky, as any British world champion should be.
